چکیده

We have built and tested a 3.5 m high-finesse Fabry-Perot prototype inteferometer with a precision ellipsometer for the QED test and axion search (Q & A) experiment. We use X-pendulum-double-pendulum suspension designs and automatic control schemes developed by the gravitational-wave detection community. Verdet constant and Cotton-Mouton constant of the air are measured as a test. Double modulation with polarization modulation 100 Hz and magneticfield modulation 0.05 Hz gives 10 rad phase noise for a 44-minute integration. PACS numbers: 04.80.-y, 12.20.-m, 14.80.Mz, 07.60.Ly, 07.60.Fs, 33.55.Ad

Improving ellipticity detection sensitivity for the Q & A vacuum birefringence experiment

Q & A (quantum electrodynamics test and search for axion) experiment was first proposed in 1994 and a 3.5 m high-finesse Fabry-Perot prototype detector extendable to 7 m has been built and tested. We now enter into the 2nd phase of improving the ellipticity detection sensitivity. We present our scheme, compare with other ongoing experiments, analyze the displacement spectra of our suspension sy...

A ug 2 00 5 An inverse problem for parabolic equations

Let u t = ∇ 2 u − q(x)u := Lu in D × [0, ∞), where D ⊂ R 3 is a bounded domain with a smooth connected boundary S, and q(x) ∈ L 2 (S) is a real-valued function. is the outer normal to S, one can find q(x) uniquely. A similar result is obtained for the heat equation u t = Lu := ∇ · (a∇u). These results are based on new versions of Property C.

In this contribution to the proceedings of the 2002 Workshop for Fundamental Physics in Space, a discussion of recent work on astrophysical and laboratory tests of Lorentz symmetry in electrodynamics is presented. Stringent constraints are placed on birefringence of light emitted from galactic and extragalactic sources. The prospect of precision clock-comparison experiments utilizing resonant c...

Novel Axial Flux Brushless Resolver Analysis and Optimization Using 3D Finite Element and d-q Model Method

Resolvers are widely used in electric driven systems especially in high precision servomechanisms. Both encapsulated and pancake resolvers suffer from a major drawback: static eccentricity (SE). This drawback causes a significant increase in resolver output position error (RPE) which could not be corrected electronically. To reduce RPE, this paper proposes a novel structure with axial flux. Pr...
